Circa 1840. 2-storey basement and attic 3-bay snecked
rubble villa.
SOUTH ELEVATION: prominent canted bay rises through 2
stories with piended roof. 2 single windows to left.
Piended roof and 3-light dormer. Plain side elevations
with gable end stacks, low service wing, partly brick, at
W. 4-window N elevation, central porch added circa 1870,
with round-headed doorway, 2 segmental arched windows and a cornice. Most windows 12-pane sash and case. INTERIOR: some partitions, original fanlight to front door, some plaster cornices, cast-iron bannister.
The later building, with its rear to South George Street,
is excluded from the listing.
Given to the Grey Lodge settlement by its founder, Mary
Lily Walker, a member of the Grey Ladies, an Anglican
church sisterhood, who returned to Dundee to work on
women's welfare.
