Thomas Martin Cappon, with William Gillespie Lamond,
draughtsman, 1899-1901. Free perpendicular church with
square-section tower, snecked rubble with red ashlar
dressings. Some art-nouveau details.
GABLE TO STREET: large perpendicular traceried window
within ogee hood moulded. Mullioned basement window.
Round arched door to right with carved tympanum and ogee
hood mould.
Advanced square-section tower with slight batter;
round-arched entrance with bas-relief portrait of Wishart
in tympanum, moulded reveals and ornate attached finials;
3-light square headed window over. Single stair lights
on return elevation, belfry stage with twin louvred
openings under continuous hood moulds, angle gargoyles
and finials, crenellated parapet.
Tall sides and rear, in fall of ground; 4-storey vestry
block projects at W, canted bay at rear formerly housing
pulpit and organ; 3 3-light traceried windows, those to E
within battered, skewed gablets.
Piended and gabled slate roof with pagoda ventilator and
wrought-iron finial.
Sinuous art-nouveau wrought-iron railings to street.
INTERIOR: gallaried on two sides. Fine Edwardian stained
glass. Original leaded glass.
No longer in ecclesiastical use.
