Description

James Thomson of Glasgow, architect. Dated 1895. Asymmetrical
2-storey Scottish Baronial former gate lodge. Stugged and
snecked ashlar with polished dressings.
North elevation: Drum tower at west, advanced bay at east
flanking entrance bay with pilastered segmental-headed door
and paired round-headed lights; window above with
thistle-finialed dormer head; advanced and gabled bay, ground
floor window canted, with crenellated parapet, conical-roofed
angle tower paired round-headed lights corbelled at 1st and
2nd floors, upper part pierced with circles and diamonds.
West gable has projecting ground floor tripartite, window
above with pedimented dormer head. Windows mainly mullion and
transom, continuous cill course at ground floor; moulded
eaves; crow-stepped and finialed gables, panelled and
corniced stacks and slate roof. Simple interior, with twisted
stair balusters.
