16th century. Octagonal shaft of weathered ashlar. Set in
re-entrant angle of Town House to S. Pedestal. Symmetrical
cap and base mouldings to shaft. 3 skewputt details with
carved grotesque mask heads, at top of shaft; weathered
vestige of thistle finial.

Composed of fragments of different dates. May have been the 'castle cross'. Skewputts possibly from Old Parish Kirk. De- scheduled October 1995.
