Dated 1832. Coped and panelled wellhead plaque of polished
ashlar on stepped base; inscribed "St Michael's Well".
St Michael's Well approx. 200 yards to SW was burgh boundary
in 1832. Reform Act (1832) prohibited property owners
with burgh but living more than 7 miles distant from voting.
George Gunn, Factor to Sutherland Estates, erected present
wellhead within 7 miles of his residence at Rhives - and
retained his vote.
