Description

Later 19th century. Granite 2-storey town hall with 4-stage
tower at angle, built on corner of High Street and Water
Street. Bull-faced granite walling with polished dressings
and upper stage of tower.
6-bay elevation to High Street; irregularly spaced openings
to ground, regular to 1st. Ground floor windows with plate
glass, to 1st sash and case with 2-pane upper, 4-pane lower
glazing. Polished band course over ground, corbel course at
eaves. Slate roofs. Tower with bipartite, round-arched
louvered openings surmounted by clockface, deep eaves
cornice, balustraded parapet with ball finials at angles.
Large harled, 2-storey and basement extension to rear.
