Early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan house with block pedimented, pilastered doorcase. Dressed ashlar and rubble with stugged margins. Eaves course. Round-headed door.
SW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Ground floor with deep-set modern timber door to centre in segmental-arched opening, fluted pilasters and sunburst-astragalled fanlight, windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration to 1st floor.
NE ELEVATION: door to centre bay, window to right and tiny opening to outer right, further window to outer left; 3 widely disposed windows to 1st floor with tiny opening between centre and right bays; 3 modern rooflights above.
NW & SE ELEVATIONS: largely blank elevations, each with small window in gablehead.
Out-of-character modern small-pane effect glazing in timber frames. Graded grey slates. Broad coped ashlar gablehead stacks with string course and thackstanes; ashlar-coped skews with moulded skewputts to rear.
ANCILLARY STRUCTURE: gabled, slated, rectangular-plan rubble ancillary with garage openings to SW.
BOUNDARY WALLS AND RAILINGS: coped rubble boundary walls and inset railings.
Traditional glazing replaced with out-of-character, non-traditional glazing without listed building consent. Reinstatement of 12-pane timber sash and case windows would greatly improve Ashgrove House, returning its intended character.
