Description

Early 19th century. 3-storey and attic, 4-bay tenement with commercial premises at ground floor. Painted. Timber fascias to shopfronts; mutuled shopfront cornice; 1st floor cill course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architraves and cill blocks to windows at 1st and 2nd floors; cornices to 1st floor windows.

NW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 2 shops at centre; entrances to right to both; glazed timber doors; multi-paned letterbox fanlights; shop windows to left. Timber door to outer right; multi-paned letterbox fanlight. Iron gate to close entrance to outer left; multi-paned letterbox fanlight. Regular fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors. 2 segmental-arched dormers to outer right and left at attic.

Shop windows at ground (multi-paned to upper section); 12-pane timber sash and case windows at 1st and 2nd floors; 4-pane at attic. Grey slate roof; stone skew to left; truncated gablehead stacks.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

A good example of classical urban architecture, with mutual eaves course, cornice and blocking course with Nos 15 and 17 (see separate list description).
