Description

Early 19th century. 3-storey, 3-bay tenement with commercial premises at ground floor. Painted ashlar. Corniced shopfront; 2nd floor cill course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architraved margins to window openings; aprons at 1st floor.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central entrance to shopfront to left; recessed 2-leaf glazed timber door; letterbox fanlight; flanking shop windows. Entrance to No 28 (see separate list description) via close to outer right. Regular fenestration at upper floors.

Shop windows at ground; 8-pane timber sash and case windows at upper floors (4-pane to upper sashes only at 1st floor). Grey slate roof; rooflights; coped gablehead stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

Stands opposite Town Hall. Forms part of short terrace with differing cill, eaves, cornice and blocking course levels (see separate list descriptions to Nos 12 and 14, 22, 24 and 26, and 28 and 30 New Bridge Street).
