Constructed mainly in 1st half of 19th century, but not all
one build. Long quayside (Town Quay) beside warehouses at
lower end of Port Street begun building circa 1810;
originally 250' in length, extended 1904; separate small quay
to S (Niven's Quay) built in mid 19th century for Newbie
estate. All built of large rubble blocks.
