Description

Later 19th century. 2 adjoining near contemporary buildings
forming market hall. 2 storeys. All bull-faced red ashlar
with polished dressings, continuous cornice over ground
floor, each building with similarly detailed bracketted
cornice. Original glazing retained throughout. Straight
skews; end stacks; continuous slate roof.
RANGE NEAREST S: 9 bays, square-headed openings, wide ground
floor openings divided by stone piers; 2 foreshortened roof
ventilators; earlier walling incorporated at rear.
Cast-iron-columned interior.
RANGE NEAREST N: 6 (1 + 5 close-spaced) bays with
segmental-arched openings; door left, otherwise ground floor
openings arcaded.
