Description

Circa 1760. Double span classical bridge. Large, droved
sandstone blocks, coursed, with ashlar dressings. Large
central water-break pier in keel-shaped section with
band course and keystoned oculus in spandrel through entire
width, and with raised surround to E side. Wide
semi-circular keystoned arches flanking. Bracketted
string course below parapet with ashlar coping. Carved
armorial panel to W parapet, set above oculus. Keystoned
round-arched entrance to pedestrian arch on N bank.

Statement of Interest

Crosses Biel Water in SW-NE direction, and sited to E of

Biel House, by Bridge Cottage and walled garden (not included

in current listings).
