Description

Early 19th century. Classical arched gateway with flanking plan pavilion lodges.

GATEWAY: round-arched keystoned gateway with flanking paired Tuscan-columns supporting entablature, surmounted by painted Colquhoun Heraldic arms.

LODGES: pair of flanking lodges. Single storey, square-plan, ashlar lodges. Round-arched openings, now blocked; paired corner pilasters supporting blocking course.

RAILINGS: cast-iron railings on low plinth wall.

Statement of Interest

The south drive and gateway was created by Sir James Colquhoun, 27th of Luss at the time of the 1817 improvements to the house. Rossdhu House and associated buildings are listed separately.
