1912. 2-storey, with 1st floor breaking eaves, asymmetrical-plan
simple Arts and Crafts style house. Harled. Deep overhanging eaves to piended roofs. Swept piended dormerheads to all 1st floor windows. Horizontal glazing.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 3-bay. Garden door to right of centre, with narrow window flanking to right; 3-light with 3-light window flanking to right; 3-light window to left of centre. Canted window in bay to left, with 3-light window to S. 4-light window in bay to right at ground floor. 3-light windows at 1st floor.
W ELEVATION: 3-light window at ground floor in advanced bay to left; 2-light window at 1st floor. 2-light window at 1st floor in recessed bay to right and under eaves to S return; modern (1980s) single storey addition in re-entrant angle, with patio doors to S and multi-pane rectangular window to W.
E ELEVATION: elevation slightly advanced to left; tall tapered wallhead stack, rising through eaves, between 2-light windows at 1st floor; 2-light window to right and window to outer left at ground floor. 2-light window to left and window to right, to right.
N ELEVATION: L-plan, formed by gabled wing to left, with further adjoining single storey wing. Door at centre; 2-light window above at 1st floor. Window to left of centre at ground floor; small window under eaves above. Recessed bay flanking to left, with 3-light stair window. Modern windows at ground and in gabled dormerhead at 1st floor to W return of wing; modern window to left in N gablehead. Small outhouse, with 2 doors, adjoined to right of elevation.
Multi-pane glazing in casement windows. Grey-green graded slates; terracotta roll ridge tiles. Harled stacks; small ridge stack to right of centre to S roof, stack to W pitch.
Terrace and modern balustraded staircase (1980s) in garden to S. Piend-roofed outbuilding to N.
GRAVESTONE: 1948. Celtic cross on block plinth. Rock-faced granite. Inscription on polished face of plinth, in memory of Arthur Durham Kirby, CBCMG, Brig General late of Royal Artillery, born at Dharmsala, India 21 October 1867 (died 1948) and Mary Muriel Kirby (died 1964). Modern railed enclosure.
White harl, tapering stacks and horizontal emphasis echo work by
