Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, L-plan plash mill. Rubble sandstone, stugged ashlar dressings, pink ashlar quoins, grey slate piended roof.
S ELEVATION: asymmetrical; door at centre, window at left, 3 windows at right, boarded opening at 1st floor. Blank gable at right return.
W ELEVATION OF N RANGE: blocked cart entrance at right; hay-loft door at centre breaking eaves with piended roof. Entrance with sliding door at left return gable.
E ELEVATION OF N RANGE: boarded-up door at centre, window with security bars at right.
N ELEVATION: small window at left, drive shaft and wheel protruding at off centre left.
INTERIOR: 5-stall stable with timber trevises in N range.
WHEEL AND SLUICE: breat-shot wheel at S with transmission through chamber under road adjoining S elevation of mill; sluice at W, lade covered at right.
Part of B Group with Balmuirfield House, Coach House,Road Bridge
over Lade, Lodge, Road Bridge over Dichty Water. The wheel is
in relatively good condition although there is evidence of
machinery remaining in the mill itself. There is an early 20th
century turbine on the banks of the Dichty to the south.
