Lodge and gateway to Lews Castle probably by Charles Wilson, mid 19th century.
LODGE is altered, single storey and attic, L-plan south-facing front ot driveway, entrance in re-entrant angle, canted ground floor window in advanced gable left, attic light over. Built of pinned rubble, laid in deep courses, contrasting imported yellow ashlar dressings; glazing and tile roof both modern; blind wall-head gablet on west flank to roadway may originally have been surmounted by a chimney stack; main stack now at rear, above lean-to outshot.
GATEWAY comprises cavetto-curved quadrants built of interlocked polygonal stonework, octagonal ashlar piers, rubble coping; centre carriage gates and flanking pedestrian gates, cast-iron gatepiers, wrought-iron gates.
