L-plan quay clasping rock edge at corner to small natural
harbour inlet sloped evenly downwards towards sea.
Coursed rubble, top course vertically set with narrow
edges facing outwards and interlocked at diagonal
at angle; (?later)iron runner ties at edges. Wrought iron
tying rings, some now lost.
Built for ferrying cattle from Jura; the continuous slope
of the quay allowed unloading at any state of the tide,
as well as a straightforward climb from boat to shore,
and the vertically-set stones provided a surer footing
than a flat surface.
