Description

Dating from 1575, Hatton Castle is a restored four-storey, Z-plan castle with a vaulted basement. It has square towers at the northeast and southwest angles. There is a circular turret in the re-entrant angle of the northeast tower. The castle is constructed in harled rubble with moulded and pedimented dormers. The crowstep-gabled roof is slated and has predominantly end chimneystacks.

Statement of Interest

The castle is shown on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps as ruinous. The castle was restored in the mid-1980s and has been occupied since around 1990.
