Description

Probably late 18th century. Row of single storey cottages on
S side of road, 4 separate blocks stepped down slope.
Rubble-built with ashlar margins, all painted. Block to W
(Miss Byers and Mrs Gordon) pair 3-bay, centre-doored
cottages, other blocks asymmetrical. Some alterations; Old
Grocery has enlarged window, smith (to E) alongside fitted
with sliding doors. Boarded doors with rectangular fanlights
to cottages; sash windows, mostly small-paned. End and axial
stacks; all roofed with graded slates.
