Recent work has suggested that the engine has re-used an earlier beam, possibly of c1805 vintage while documentary evidence shows it had later replacement parts including cylinder and condenser. This work was presented in October 2021 at the 2nd International Early Engines Conference at Dudley and will be published in the Transactions.
