Description

Dated 1859. Single storey stable block with attic or haylofts
to gabled bays. Squared and snecked pink sandstone with
stugged ashlar dressings with droved borders. Chamfered
arrises to openings and front elevation. Cobble-effect
forecourt.
S (FRONT) ELEVATION: almost symmetrical. Gabled bays at
centre and to outer ends, breaking eaves, the latter
advanced. Segmental arch at centre blocked with modern house
door and flanking window. Attic window above and dated panel
in gable head. Wrought-iron finial. 2 window bays flanking to
left, 3 to right. Large carriage doors in advanced outer bays
with hayloft openings above.
N (REAR) ELEVATION: advanced gabled bay at centre, with
bipartite at ground and single window above. Irregular
openings in flanking bays. Gabled outer bays, with hayloft
door to right bay.
Small-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Slate
roof; ashlar coped skews.

Statement of Interest

Date panel assists in dating additions to Leuchie House,

using similar materials and almost certainly the same

architect.
