Description

Mid 18th century. 2-storey, rectangular plan pavilion, formerly linked to Balgone House by quadrant walls. Random

purple rubble with margins to S angles.

<> ELEVATION: 3-bay. Doorway at centre with segmentally arched panel inserted below lintel. Windows flanking, that to left half blocked. 3 1st floor windows under eaves.

W ELEVATION: symmetrical 3-bay with larger openings to centre bay and all blind at ground floor.

N ELEVATION: 2 doorways grouped at centre with large rectangular fanlights above. Single 1st floor window breaking eaves in gabled dormer head to left.

12-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Piended slate roof with sweeping eaves and centre stack. Newel stone stair entered directly from S doorway. Cobbelled court and rubble retaining walls with squat ashlar gatepiers to W. Single storey piended roofed cottage and coach house combined, closing courtyard to N.

Statement of Interest

Partially mirrors S pavilion. Absent from 1739 plan, therefore later.
