18th century. Low, thick, red sandstone rubble retaining
walls, surrounding rectangular green, and with rounded
corners. Squat square gatepiers flanking openings to centre
of shorter N and S sides, with pyramidal caps.
The Tron formerly stood on the green, until 1820.
The retaining walls contribute notably the neat and
complete layout of Gifford, simply defining the area
between the High Street and The Avenue which leads to
Yester House.
Part of Gifford Village A Group.
