Description

1856 William Burn? Tudor features. Single storey and
loft. E-plan Stugged courses with finely stugged
contrasting dressings. Main court Central wide gabled
pend arch, slim square clock tower over rising from
platform of roof, low corbelled top stage with gablet
belfry window each face,? truncated broach spire and
weathervane. 3 cartsheds each side, returning wings have
4 window and central door with corbelled ledges to
gablet loft doors, low front screen wall with centre
gate of square gatepiers. Gablet centre and ends north
elevation, monogram panel over pend. Some original
glazing. East court is lower and smaller with farm
workers' cottages in east side. 2 bipartite gablet
dormers to court and gable with door to right. Slated
roofs throughout on stone brackets, with stepped
copings, finials and square stacks set diagonally.
Ramped formal approach (to main court) depressed gothic
arch at centre with brick vaulted chamber (icehouse)
under.
