Description

Probably early 18th century, recently restored. Single
storey row of cottages, united into 2 irregular
cottages. White painted harling; cills renewed; doorways
of differing heights.
SW (ROADSIDE) ELEVATION: 9 irregular bays; mutual gable
approximately at centre; 2 doorways to left of centre,
flanked by large, later windows; doorway to right of
centre, flanked by windows, and with further doorway
in outer right.
12-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Red
pantiles. Harled mutual gable and ridge stacks.

Statement of Interest

The cottages are the last surviving examples of the

single storey rows which formerly lined the village

street. Their survival is explained by the many years in

which they had been in single ownership, the

Handsides, for example, in the 19th century.
