Circa 1910. Single storey, 3-bay cottage; 1 of identical
pair. Harled with ashlar dressings, and chamfered
arrises to openings. Decorative timber, gabled porch at
centre, with small-pane glazing to lights and diagonal
boarding; 2-leaf doors. Stone mullioned bipartites
in flanking bays. Lean-to projections at rear, currently
bridged by modern French windows bridged between.
Multi-pane glazing pattern to upper sashes, 2-pane lower
sashes to windows. Grey slates. Ashlar dressed and
corniced end stacks with decorative cans retained.
RAILINGS: unusual, decorative timber railings and gates,
flanked by polygonal piers, along roadside boundary.
Strathmore Cottage to N, is the 2nd of the pair. They
were almost certainly designed by the architect who was
responsible for rebuilding the South Lodge in 1911,
and Pentlands View in 1913, as there is a Carberry
Estate uniformity to details, linking the designs.
