Erected circa 1685, against north wall of farmhouse garden to commemorate execution of 5 martyrs. Stone monument, simple
upright slab, with shaped top, inscribed on south face.
Inscribed "In this yard were shot John Gibson, James Bennoch,
Robert Edgar, Robert Mitchell & Robert Grierson, April 28:
1685 by Colerell (sic) Douglass & Livingstouns Dragoons for
adhering to Christs Kingly Government (sic) in his Church
against Tyrannie perjurie & prelacie". Their tombstones are
in the Parish Churchyard (no 232 in INVENTORY). B for
