Probably mid 19th century, incorporating 18th century house
at rear (N). Medium scale L-plan 2-storey mansion with
classical details. Built mainly of rock-faced whin ashlar
laid in graded courses; polished red ashlar dressings and
architraves (original house rubble-built with ashlar
dressings). Some alterations circa 1923. Long S elevation:
2-bay outer pavilions asymmetrically advanced, porch in
re-entrant angle and 3-light window alongside circa 1923;
other windows sashes with 12-pane glazing, corniced at ground
with architraves linked to base course, paired 1st floor
windows have cills linked. Eaves course; cornice. Stacks with
octagonal flues, mostly grouped. Piended roofs covered with
graded slates. Long W elevation (3+3+2 bays) with near
central door.
Original house altered, tripartite-plan, wall-head dormers
and steep-pitched rof. Low wing adjoins at N.
Interior: extensive timber panelling presumably contemporary
with porch.
