Early 19th century, large hollow square comprising former
stables and steading, now partially converted as dwellings. Single-storey and loft, the N and S elevations being slightly
higher than those at E and W. All cherry pointed rubble with
tooled and polished ashlar dressings.
9-bay symmetrical S front, with outer and centre bays
slightly advanced. Tall centre round-headed archway leading
to inner court with flanking 3-bay dwellings, to right
original 3-bay dwelling with centre door, to left 3-window
block; all windows set in shallow round-headed ashlar
recesses with small loft windows above linked by cill
bands, the centre loft window being smaller. Tall round-
headed arches to former carriage houses in outer bays, now
partially blocked, to left as multi-pane window to dwelling
and to right with double-leaf garage doors.
W range now converted to residential use; centre glazed
French windows sheltered by piended verandah supported by
pair Roman Doric columns and flanked by square headed windows.
To rear (N) 2 doorways, slit vents and loft openings.
Within court, entrance to W wing dwelling with door piece
incorporating re-used balusters to support cornice; flanking
windows, some set in former stable doorways.
Multi-pane glazing, with dummy intersecting glazing to south
front ground floor fenestration; corniced and panelled ridge
stacks; piended slate roofs. Some modern garages within inner
court.
