Description

Circa 1840, single storey and dormerless attic, 3-bay T-plan
gate lodge. Coursed rubble with tooled sandstone ashlar
dressings. S facing asymmetrical front (to driveway) with off-
centre door in re-entrant angle flanked right (E) by 2-light
window and left (W) by advanced crowstepped gable with ground
floor canted oriel window and diminutive attic window in
gable above. Similar oriel and attic fenestration in E gable;
pair 2-light windows in W return elevation; all windows with
cusped wooden frames and all openings with hoodmoulds; some
lattice pane glazing survives.
Crowstepped gables with attenuated scroll skewputts, stumpy
square gable apex finials with ogee caps and balls; cluster
3 diagonally set square ashlar stacks at roof ridge junction;
slate roof. Later lean-to extension at rear. Gate piers; 2
pairs square ashlar gate piers flank carriage entrances, the
pairs linked by coped rubble walling. No gates.
