Probably Christopher Johnston, circa 1809. 2-storey,
3-bay farmhouse with single storey service wing. Rusty
red sandstone rubble with grey ashlar dressings.
W ELEVATION: simple cornices to openings and eaves
course; fanlit doorway at centre with windows in
flanking bays and to each bay under eaves.
E ELEVATION: gabled service wing projecting at centre;
modern porch inserted in re-entrant to N. Modern
additions at ground to N and S gables; attic window to W
in each elevation, 1 blocked.
8-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Purple
slates and swept eaves to steeply pitched roof. Ashlar
coped end stacks.
Attributed to C Johnston because of close similarity
with his designs for Stobshiel farmhouse (held at
Stobshiel) of 1809. Listed B despite additions for the
striking colour and variation of standard design.
