1921, Concrete lade, dam, weir, cirular Boving turbine house and detached diesel engine house.
Tall circular mass-concrete turbine house with stepped windows, cornice and ogee slate roof with timber ball finial.
Interior: stair, generator mountings and control panel survives.
Straight lade and dam with concrete sides and steel rails. Weir projects into Tay to protect tail-race.
Simple rectangular gabled engine house, containing a 2-cylinder horizontal Ruston and Hornby diesel engine.
Gilkes turbines had previously been installed in place of the waterwheels in 1879 to turn line shafts. The 1921 turbines and generators by Boving and Co were to generate electricity and so could be placed further from the mills. They were removed in 1973 but the stand-by diesel engine remains. Building contractors were Messrs Duncan of Murthly.
Earlier remins of the water system include the weir and lade, 3 tunnel driven 1729 (for corn mill), 1785 (by James Stobie and 1823 of 776 and 800 feet, re-floored with concrete 1921, and bridges and sluices beside East and Bell Mills.
