Description

Late 16th century. Beehive dovecot, 18ft high, random rubble with 2 ashlar rat courses, cornice with billet moulding. Doorway to E, shallow domed roof with central circular flight hole lantern for birds, with 8 holes.

INTERIOR: central potence ladder, walls lined with 500 nests.

Statement of Interest

Group with Luffness, Gardener:s House, Dovecot, Water Tower and Walled Garden. Recent unpublished research suggests the dovecot may date from 1420 (information courtesy of the owner).
