Description

Early-mid 18th century with later alterations. 2-storey house with attic, 3 irregular bays. Sneck harled randoim rubble, battered at ground, with painted raised margins. Door to left of centre with strip fanlight, 1 window to left at ground, 2 windows at right enlarged. 3 smaller windows at 1st floor. gable to E has single window to right at 1st floor with smaller light to attic above. W gable with 1 enlarged window at ground, 1 above to 1st floor. Harled lean-to porch addition to centre at rear, windows much altered.

Sash and case windows with plate glass and 4-pane glazing.

Grey slates, end stacks, straight ashlar skews with scrolled skewputts. Single storey rubble outbuilding with pantiled roof at rear, now used as garage.

Statement of Interest

Thought to be the oldest house in the village. Formerly an inn, a general store in the 19th century and a bakers shop. The W gable end once accommodated the town clock; stonework at the attic storey shows its position.
