Architect probably Walter Newall. Circa 1830 single storey
and attic 3-bay farmhouse incorporated at west end of
courtyard steading, latter built 1830/1. All rubble-built
with ashlar dressings, mostly whitewashed; all roofed with
graded slates. House: raised/attic bipartites inserted to
west later 19th century; recessed asymmetrical wings; porch
central on west elevation; attic windows break through eaves
and have gabled dormer heads. Sash windows with 12-pane
glazing; saw-toothed skews; corniced end stacks. Steading:
tall south range with barn, cartshed to courtyard and tall
barn door, shallow return south from west end, apsidal
horsemill at east end of south wall; north range with 6 doors
to court and axial roof ventilators; series of roof lights to
east range. Central rubble-walled midden; cobbled court.
