Description

18th century. Single storey, 3-bay cottage. Harled with painted stone surrounds to openings.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: central replacement glazed door; flanking windows; small fixed light to right of door.

S ELEVATION: plain gable; raggles of removed adjacent building visible.

W ELEVATION: not seen, 2000.

N ELEVATION: attached to 1 Brucehaven Road.

INTERIOR: not seen, 2000.

2-pane timber sash and case windows. Openings extend to eaves level. Pitched roof; modern pantiles. Raised wallhead to S gable with brick apex chimney stack. Raised rear right hand section of roof.

Statement of Interest

The steep gradient of the roof indicates a possible former thatched roof. Part of the rear roof has been raised to create a less steep gradient but the retention of the pitch to the front has helped to maintain the character of the cottage.
