18th century, later alterations. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan house. Rendered, painted stone margins to openings.
SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: door to off-centre right, 3 windows to left, window to far right. 3 evenly arranged windows to 1st floor, close to eaves. Remains of adjacent house to far left.
SW ELEVATION: attached to 7 Main Street.
NE ELEVATION: attached to 11 Main Street.
Modern door, replacement 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Pitched roof, grey slates, crowstepped gable to SW, gable apex stacks, clay cans, thackstane.
NOTES: Aberdour and the surrounding land is divided between the old feudal estates of the Earls of Morton (Easter Aberdour) and the Earls of Moray (Wester Aberdour). Main Street is the main thoroughfare to Easter Aberdour. Although altered 9 Main Street retains some of its original features including thackstane and crowstepped gable and also follows the old street line (the majority of later houses along the street encroach further into the road and have much higher rooflines). The evidence of a thackstane indicates that the house may have once been thatched. It is possible that the house could have been forestaired as this was characteristic of the area, none remain along Main Street (2003).
