Opened 5.1.1851. Rectangular-plan, 5-bay, buttressed simple
Gothic Church. Stugged grey ashlar with polished dressings.
Single openings, mostly hood-moulded and with pointed heads.
Gabled porch at E end of S wall, vestry at W end of N wall;
former has S-facing door in moulded reveals; single lights to
buttressed bays; continuous string at cill level raised as
hood-mould over central door on E gable - 3 single lights
stepped above latter door, and gabled belfry; saw-toothed
skews with gabletted skewputts; slate roof.
INTERIOR: pulpit with panelled front against W gable, steps
either side with ornamental wooden balustrades; roof timbers
on stone corbels.
Ecclesiastical building in use as such. B group with manse
(Item 6).
Duke of Buccleuch would not initially grant a site for a
free church, hence late building date.
