Probably circa 1720 (ie contemporary with house) but
incorporating earlier fabric at NE. Large T-plan barn with
loft storey contained below eaves and with alterations.
Rubble-built with ashlar margins (chamfered to openings) and brick-margined (mostly blind) small loft openings, all
whitewashed.
W elevation: advanced central gable with original
round-headed wide archway now square-headed with arch bricked
up; bolection-moulded blind elliptical bull's eye in
gable-head, and moulded skews; alterations at right;
forestair to loft in left re-entrant angle; 3 bays beyond
with central door and 2 windows at ground, segmental-arched
and lugged blind loft openings above and to N flank. Long E
elevation almost blank at ground, round-headed loft openings.
Also known as Little Hutton Chapel. RCAHM INVENTORY, 1920,
no. 119 notices site of Little Hutton Chapel. Remainder of
steading not included in listing.
