Designed by and built for Matthew Forster Conolly of
Gillingshill. Probably built 1834. 2-storey and attic 3-bay
house, extended to north and to east in Z-plan later in
century, with alterations 1911, Sir Robert Lorimer architect.
Original house & similarly detailed 2-bay west elevation of
north wing both pinned whin rubble with contrasting long and
short ashlar dressings; remainder harled. South elevation:
original house has central door and 3 gabled and finialled
wall-head dormers; 12-pane sashes throughout. Deeply recessed
bay of addition to right has 16-pane window to ground and to
1st floor, and tripartite dormer with bell cast roof. Low
modern addition in re-entrant angle has tall 30-pane stair
window in west wall above. End and axial stacks; slate roofs.
Interior: ornate chimney piece in drawing room in 18th
century pattern; simple plasterwork; cast-iron stair
balusters.
