1820-5, probably William Robertson, architect. Former laundry,
converted to dwelling in 1988. Rubble, tooled ashlar dressings.
2 storeys, 5 bays with 1988 entrances in bays 2 and 4, the
former centre entrance now a window. Regular 5-bay rear
fenestration but with small off-centre narrow window in centre
of ground floor. Lower 1st floor windows; 12-pane glazing.
Coped end stacks; graded Banffshire slate roof.
Site of former bleaching green and indicated as such on
1822 map. Vignette on 18th century topographical drawing
shows buildings with water wheel on site, probably a
former laundry or bleaching house, the wheel to activate
washing. This building and bleaching may have served also
for bleaching of local woven fabric made from locally
grown flax.
The building marked on the bleaching green site appears
to correspond with present 'Old Laundry'.
William Robertson known to have been working in Cullen
in early 1820's for Seafield Estate.
