Description

Probably late 16th century. Lectern dovecot in poor
condition. Random rubble, roughly squared for
dressings. W wall 3-stage in height; rat courses;
crude angle buttress to SE angle; skews formerly
crowstepped; later doorway to S elevation; 3 tiers of
flight holes on S elevation. N wall derelict. Nesting
boxes lining remaining walls. Unusual masonry detail to
E wall, possibly a repair incorporating salvaged stone
from elsewhere.

Statement of Interest

Scheduled monument. Measuring circa 15' x 17' in plan, and

sited by garden wall to NW of castle. Castle and Market

Garden House are listed separately.
