Description

Early 19th century. Single storey, 6-bay, rectangular-plan cottage with later alterations. Tooled, snecked pink sandstone rubble with broached dressings. Projecting cills; long and short quoins to E of N elevation.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: asymmetrical; 2 8-pane windows to central bays; boarded timber door to penultimate bay to right; window to each remaining bay.

W ELEVATION: asymmetrical; window off-centre to right.

S ELEVATION: not seen 1998.

E ELEVATION: harled; blank.

Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Red pantiled roof with slate easing course; stone skew to W gable. Coped sandstone gablehead stack to W, 2 harled, coped modern ridge stacks; circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

B Group with Carrington Village, Nos. 1, 2, 4 Carrington Mains Cottages, Carrington Mains Steading and Carrington Mains Farmhouse (see separate listings). Carrington Village was built to serve Carrington Mains (see separate listing) which is part of Rosebery Estate.
