Hauxton war memorial was unveiled in 1922. An inscription and names commemorating those who died in the Second World War were added.
Hauxton’s war memorial, which stands south of St Edmund’s church, is listed at Grade II for the following principal reasons:
* Historic interest: as an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on the local community, and the sacrifice it made in the conflicts of the C20;
* Design: an elegant limestone cross;
* Group value: it stands alongside the Grade I-listed St Edmund’s church.
