War memorial, erected 1919 and with later additions after the Second World War.
The stone war memorial cross stands in the centre of the village at the junction of London Road and High Street. It takes the form of a foliate cross on top of a tapering square shaft which rises from a plinth on a two-stepped base. The lower part of the cross shaft carries the inscriptions:
(side one) TO/ THE GLORY OF/ GOD/ AND IN PIOUS MEMORY OF/ OUR FOWLMERE MEN/ (NAMES)/ WHO FELL IN BATTLE DURING THE/ GREAT WAR, 1914 - 1918/ HE THAT LOSETH THIS LIFE FOR MY SAKE SHALL FIND IT
(side two) TO/ THE GLORY OF/ GOD/ AND IN PIOUS MEMORY OF/ OUR FOWLMERE MEN/ 1914 - 1918/ (NAMES)
(side three) TO/ THE GLORY OF/ GOD/ AND IN PIOUS MEMORY OF/ OUR FOWLMERE MEN/ 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)
There are eleven names of those who died in the First World War, and two of men who died in the Second; in 2000 one further name was added.

The memorial cost £120, raised by public subscription; the masons were Messrs G Maile & Son Ltd of 367 Euston Road, London. The memorial was dedicated on 10 December 1919, and re-dedicated on 20 September 2000 following cleaning and the addition of a further name.
Fowlmere War Memorial, on a crossroads in the centre of the village, is listed at Grade II for the following reasons:
* Historic interest: as an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on the local community, and the sacrifice it made in the conflicts of the C20;
* Design: a well-executed memorial by a longstanding London firm;
* Group value: several listed buildings stand around the crossroads where the war memorial stands.
