MONMOUTH PLACE
(South side)

No.12 (Formerly
Listed as: UPPER
BRISTOL ROAD Nos
11 and 12
(Monmouth Place))
05/08/75

GV II

Terraced house (one of pair No.11 (qv)). Late C18 (lease dated 8th October 1792), possibly incorporating earlier fabric with C20 additions.
MATERIALS: Rough rendered on rubble, asbestos cement slate roof.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys and attic, two windows. C20 dormer in high mansard roof with coped gables. First and second floors have two two-light cross casements in painted splayed reveals. Ground floor has full width shop unit brought forward to pavement, with part-glazed door set deep to left, and late C19 plate glass display front with central doors and small pane transom lights, returned to left, under late C20 fascia. Above thin cornice in ashlar blocking course with parapet, no stack visible.
INTERIOR: Not inspected. The pair appears to be earlier than most of the adjoining properties and may form part of the beginnings of development along the Bristol Road.
