Road bridge. c1800. John Rennie, engineer. Ashlar. Single elliptical span approx 3.5m, on vertical abutments, with flush voussoirs and triple keystone each side, under deep string, with high parapet to heavy weathered coping, following slight downhill slope of road, but main arch spandrels are in horizontal courses. Parapets are swept at lower end, and an opening incorporating stone bollards on west side, giving to towpath, with walling continued to square pier to right. Upper side of bridge immediately adjacent to Abbey View Lock, (qv). The Kennet and Avon Canal was opened throughout in 1810.
