GV II
Symmetrical pair of houses. 1800-1820.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, roof unseen with moulded stacks to the party wall. Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys including an attic storey; symmetrical five-window front with blind windows to the party wall. The outer bays step slightly forward, and are flanked with single-storey extensions. Continuous coped parapet, attic cornice and first floor cornice with stepped cornice band. Horizontal four/four-pane sash windows to the attic storey, those to the sides and centre are blind; plate glass sashes to the first floor, those to the outer ranges with lower sills over wide pavilion-roofed Regency-style porches on trellised supports over a six-panel door to the left hand house (the porch and door to the right hand house are C20 in date, but harmonious in style).
INTERIORS: Not inspected.
A characteristic pair of Regency villas, employing the increasingly popular semi-detached formula, but showing the clear influence of urban terrace design.
