Eight terrace houses, stepped. Mid C19 with C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, and concrete tile roofs, except Nos 15A, 16 and 20, with slate.
PLAN: Town houses with staircase and entrance to left, deep plain ridge roof, No.15A slightly higher and deeper than remainder.
EXTERIOR: Two storey, attic and basement, developing as full three storeys to rear. Each three windows above single canted bay, to right, with plain sash. Nos 15A and 17 have single dormer, Nos 16 and 20 have two dormers. No.15, end property, has extra bay to left. Basements have plain sash to each facet of bay, same to ground floor, and bay has cornice with blocking course and parapet. To left each house has four or six-panel door under deep plain transom light, and with cornice hood on scroll consoles. First floor sill band, cornice, blocking course and parapet all sweep down at party divisions, which are coped, and with deep stacks, except to No.15A, and No.15 has small square stack between bays one and two. Above first floor windows wide shallow sunk square frieze panel to each house. Rear, also in ashlar, has eaves roofs, each with two windows, various sashes, staggered, and with cantilevered extensions to all except No.19.
INTERIORS: No. 15a partially inspected by Bath Council 1991. Converted to surgery and several features had been removed in early 1990¿s. No. 20 partially inspected by Bath Council 1976. Iron fireplace mantle and grates at front, good front room rose and cornice and rear window patterned and red stained glass.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Each house has pair of low square stone piers with capping, and ashlar wall returned to doorway, and across front railing with alternate plain and hooped rails on stone curb enclosing basement areas. Late version of Georgian terrace in Bath, practically unaltered externally, and making an interesting contrast with the terrace opposite (Nos 2-10, qv). Irregular number suggests later insertion, but this is not evident from the detailing.
