House, now flats. c1777-1784 with C19 and C20 alterations. By John Wood the Younger.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front, ashlar and rubble to rear. Double pile parapeted mansard roof, Welsh slate to front and rear, coped party wall to right with two ashlar stacks with some early clay pots.
PLAN: Staircase to rear.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, three-window range. First floor has three plate glass horned sashes in splayed ovolo moulded architraves with friezes and cornices, lowered moulded stone sills on console brackets. Second floor has three plate glass horned sashes in splayed ovolo moulded architraves with stone sills. Ground floor has to right two plate glass horned sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills, to left six-panel door with flush beaded, fielded and glazed panels in stone doorcase with cyma moulded architrave and moulded cornice on console brackets forming hood; concreted crossover flush with pavement. Basement has two six/six sashes in plain reveals with stone sills, C20 glazed door under crossover and C20 area steps. One double and one single dormer with plate glass sashes. Band course over ground floor; modillion eaves cornice and coped parapet. Lead downpipe shared with No.4 Catharine Place (qv) attached to ground floor right. Rear elevation has glazing bar sashes; single storey parapeted ashlar extension.
INTERIOR: Partially inspected by Bath Council 1979. Many original features survive but nothing outstanding.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with shaped heads on limestone bases.
